Patron Saints (Santos Populares)
June is the month of the Santos Populares. There are parties and fairs all around the country, particularly on the nights of St Anthony (the 13th), St John (the 24th) and St Peter (the 29th). These are days and nights of entertainment, where people come out to the street to drink, eat and have fun through the streets of the historic neighborhoods, decorated with colorful arches, balloons, while basil and grilled sardines essences fill the exhilarated atmosphere. In Lisbon we celebrate Santo António, the patron of the city, on the 13th of June. The most intense party occurs from the 12th to the 13th, which means fun all night long!

In Santa Luzia you can delight with the sunset or sunrise over the river. Senhora da Monte, in Graça, has a 12th century chapel and a unique view over Mouraria. São Pedro de Alcântara and Santa Catarina are embedded in the old neighborhoods of Bica and Bairro Alto. And there are much much more...
